Right-handed reliever Carlos Torres is sticking around the National League East after agreeing to a minor-league deal with the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday, according to Jim Seimas of the Santa Cruz Sentinel.

"I'm happy," Torres told Seimas. "They posted the best opportunity in the later innings of games, bigger innings."

Torres spent the last three seasons as a member of the New York Mets, and posted a 4.68 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and 48 strikeouts across 57 2/3 innings in 2015. The 33-year-old elected free agency earlier this month after the Mets designated him for assignment to make room for reliever Antonio Bastardo.

The six-year veteran's best season came in 2014 when he posted a career-low 3.06 ERA in a career-high 97 innings. Torres has started 16 games in the majors, but has pitched out of the bullpen in all but one of his last 132 appearances.
