Sunday was an incredibly important day in sports, with Super Bowl 50 taking place, as the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos battled on the gridiron for the Vince Lombardi trophy.

But, it was also a memorable day in sports history for another reason.

Exactly 22 years ago to the day, Chicago Bulls legend - and arguably the greatest basketball player of all time - Michael Jordan officially became a member of the Chicago White Sox when he signed a minor-league deal with the club.

"Air Jordan" shocked the sports world when he signed the deal after retiring from the NBA in 1993, stating that the decision was made to pursue a dream of his late father, who always envisioned him playing in the majors.

Jordan reported to spring training with the White Sox in 1994 and was later assigned to the minors, where he hit .202/.289/.266 with three home runs, 51 RBIs, and 30 stolen bases for the Birmingham Barons in Double-A.

"His Airness" quit baseball in March of 1995 while MLB was in the midst of a strike, rejoining the Bulls in what would become one of the greatest comebacks in sports history.
