Hours after Toronto Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins stated his desire to add pitching depth Thursday, the team reportedly agreed to a deal with right-hander Gavin Floyd, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports Floyd will receive a major-league deal for $1 million, with incentives based on his time on the team's active roster.

The once-durable starter's career has been derailed by injuries the past three years, limiting him to just 92 innings over that time.

Floyd attempted to revive his career with the Cleveland Indians last season, but suffered a fractured bone in his right elbow during spring training that required surgery. He'd return in September to throw 13 1/3 innings of relief, crafting a 2.70 ERA to go with seven strikeouts.

The 11-year veteran achieved the bulk of his success while with the Chicago White Sox. During a five-year span from 2008-12, Floyd went 62-56 as a starter, posting a 4.12 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and 7.2 strikeouts per nine innings. He averaged 190 innings per season over that time.

Floyd could potentially compete for the fifth spot in the rotation during spring training, offer additional help in the bullpen, or give the Blue Jays more starting pitching depth in Triple-A Buffalo.
