The Kansas City Royals agreed to a minor-league deal with outfielder Travis Snider on Saturday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training.

Snider split last season between the Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates. He hit .232/.313/.350 with four home runs, 12 doubles, and 66 strikeouts in 87 games, spending time in the corner outfield.

The 27-year-old's best season came in 2014 with the Pirates when he slashed .264/.338/.438 with 13 homers and 15 doubles.

Kansas City's starting outfield projects to be Lorenzo Cain, Alex Gordon, and Jarrod Dyson, leaving Snider to compete for the fourth outfielder job with Paulo Orlando and Reymond Fuentes.
