Diekman agreed to a one-year, $1.255 million contract with the Rangers on Friday to avoid arbitration, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

Analysis:

Diekman struggled in his time with the Phillies before a change of scenery occurred midseason when both he and Cole Hamels were sent to Arlington and the Rangers. A strong finish to the season (2.08 ERA, 0.93 WHIP) earned him some decent pay in his first year of arbitration. While the 29-year-old southpaw should remain one of the better left-handed options out of the Rangers' bullpen, he likely won't see many (if any) save opportunities, and a 3.60 FIP certainly leaves room to temper any expectations.
