Sucre will miss the next six months after undergoing leg surgery to repair a broken fibula and a severely sprained right ankle, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Analysis:

Sucre was originally expected to miss six weeks recovering from the injury, but his timetable has been drastically extended since he opted for surgery. This doesn't change the Mariners' pecking order at catcher much, as Chris Ianetta, Mike Zunino and Steve Clevenger are all slated ahead of him. The updated timetable projects Sucre to return in late July or early August.
