Rymer Liriano's disappointing tenure with the San Diego Padres ended Thursday when the club traded the 24-year-old outfielder to the Milwaukee Brewers for minor-league left-hander Trevor Seidenberger.

Designated for assignment last week to make room for Alexei Ramirez on the 40-man roster, Liriano was thought to be a big part of the Padres' future after signing with the organization in 2007, but spent almost his entire tenure with the club shuffling around the minors. His lone stint with the Padres came in 2014, when he hit .220/.289/.266 over his first 38 MLB games before being sent back to Triple-A El Paso for the entire 2015 campaign.

Liriano, who was deemed by Baseball Prospectus as San Diego's second-best prospect as recently as 2013, owns a .784 OPS with 68 homers and 190 stolen bases over parts of seven season in the minor leagues. This past year, he hit .292/.383/.460 with 14 homers, 31 doubles, and 18 steals in 131 games for El Paso, who play in the notoriously hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League.

Seidenberger, the Brewers' 12th-round pick in the 2013 draft, spent the majority of the 2015 season with High-A Brevard County, crafting a 3.06 ERA with a 24.5 percent strikeout rate in 22 relief appearances before being promoted to Double-A Biloxi, where he managed a 6.75 ERA over eight outings.
