The New York Yankees improved their catching depth Wednesday, agreeing to a minor-league deal with backstop Carlos Corporan, according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch.

Corporan, who hit .178/.244/.299 with three homers and 15 RBIs in 33 games for the Texas Rangers last season, will now compete with prospect Gary Sanchez and Austin Romine for the privilege to back up Brian McCann this season.

The 32-year-old catcher has 232 big-league games under his belt over six seasons with three different organizations.
