Angels acquire Jefry Marte from Tigers

Kim Klement / USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Angels have acquired infielder Jefry Marte from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for infielder Kody Eaves, the Angels announced Wednesday.

Marte appeared in 33 games for the Tigers last season, slashing .213/.284/.413 with four homers and 11 RBIs.

Eaves, a 16th-rounder in the 2012 draft, hit .248/.308/.387 with 11 homers and 71 RBIs in 134 contests for Inland Empire of the California League last year.

Marte, who can play first and third base, will attempt to crack the Angels' 25-man roster this spring in a reserve role.
