Matt Albers will continue to pitch on Chicago's South Side during the 2016 season, agreeing to terms on a one-year, $2.25-million deal with the White Sox.

Under terms of the deal, Albers will receive $2 million in 2016, while the White Sox hold a $3-million option for 2017 with a $250,000 buyout.

The veteran right-hander signed a minor-league deal with the White Sox prior to last season and won a job out of spring training.

He pitched to an impressive 1.21 ERA across 30 appearances for the White Sox last season, but missed substantial time after undergoing surgery on a finger he injured during a brawl with the Kansas City Royals in April.

Albers will be added to a bullpen mix headlined by closer David Robertson, and also featuring Nate Jones, Zach Duke, Zach Putnam, and Dan Jennings.

The 33-year-old veteran of 10 MLB seasons owns a career 4.20 ERA and 1.43 WHIP across 394 appearances - 23 of which have been starts.
