Adam Hunger / USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Braves reportedly added another piece to compete for a bullpen job during spring training on Wednesday, signing left-hander Alex Torres to a minor-league contract, reports MLB.com's Mark Bowman.

Torres spent 2015 with the New York Mets, appearing in 39 games, while posting a 3.15 ERA and striking out 9.2 hitters per nine innings.

The 28-year-old has also appeared in the big leagues for the Tampa Bay Rays and San Diego Padres and owns a career ERA of 2.68, though his walk rate is an alarming 5.0 per nine innings.

Torres joins a mix of relievers such as Jason Grilli, Jim Johnson, Arodys Vizcaino, and Ian Krol, among others, who will compete for bullpen spots.
