Boras believes Fernandez will remain with Marlins

Despite countless speculation and no shortage of suitors, it appears Jose Fernandez isn't leaving the Miami Marlins.

"I've talked to (owner) Jeffrey Loria, and I've talked to (president of baseball operations) Mike Hill and I think they realize they have a Cuban-born player playing in Miami, who is a brilliant talent, and you couldn't ask for a better fit for all the parties in this situation," Fernandez's agent Scott Boras told MLB Network Radio on Tuesday.

The Marlins began receiving heavy interest in the right-hander late last month after word spread of a perceived rift between Fernandez and ownership. Despite Hill downplaying the team was shopping the 2013 NL Rookie of the Year, interest from the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers was reportedly strong.

"I would expect any, and all major league teams would be calling on Jose," Boras said. "He's young, he's talented, and certainly you would expect there'd be a lot of dialogue about it, cause you wouldn't be doing your job if you didn't ask."

Just 23 years old and under team control through the 2018 season, the Marlins' reported asking price was said to be astronomical. Boras acknowledged that it isn't out of the ordinary to see so many teams have interest in a young star player like Fernandez, but doesn't expect him to be anywhere else but Miami next season.

"When you have a lot of great young players - particularity young players who their salaries are just at the beginning level of their careers - teams are going to always ask about them," he said. "Rarely are they ever traded and I think that's the case with Jose as well."
