The festive season is upon us, which means families across the globe will be congregating to celebrate the holidays.

Some baseball fans are very happy with receiving a new team hat, jersey, or tickets to future games as gifts, but what if your favorite player or personality from the majors crashed your holiday party?

Here are five MLB personalities we'd love to spend the holidays with:

Joe Maddon

The charismatic Chicago Cubs skipper would be a huge hit with people of all ages. Maddon, known for his unconventional methods to inspire team bonding throughout the baseball season, would surely be a thoughtful gift-giver and present something wacky upon arrival. Once the conversation turned serious - which it may not, knowing Maddon - you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone with a higher baseball IQ with whom to discuss the game. Also, you better have a versatile spread in your liquor cabinet to satisfy his craving for "a shot and a beer." If there's a Cubs or Maddon lover on your Christmas list, consider this last-minute gift idea:

Bartolo Colon

You better put in an order for a bigger turkey if Colon shows up at your front door. The 42-year-old husky hurler - an incredible athlete for weighing in at roughly 285 pounds - will be in a celebratory mood after inking a $7.25-million deal to remain with the New York Mets this fall. There isn't a more lovable player in the majors, and you'd have to think he'd be a huge hit with the kids. He's hungry for his first World Series title before he calls it a career, so make sure you send him home with some leftovers.

Will Ferrell

Ferrell made baseball history this past spring, suiting up for 10 different teams while playing every position. The famous comedian only spent one glorious day as a professional baseball player, but it was enough to earn him his own Baseball Reference page. After Ferrell hilariously describes his brief MLB experience to your guests, you'd have to convince him to do his famous Harry Caray impression. A screening of his Christmas movie, "Elf," would likely conclude a highly entertaining evening full of laughs.

Munenori Kawasaki

If your party is lacking energy this holiday season, send Kawasaki an invite. The Blue Jays infielder is a fan favorite in Toronto for his quirky personality and love of "bush parties." Kawasaki enjoyed his share of partying this year during Toronto's march to the American League Championship Series, but it might not be a bad idea to impose a drink limit, depending on how wild you want to get. Also, smoking cigars isn't his specialty.

Vin Scully

Picture this: your friends and family gathered around the tree, a fresh log in the fireplace, and the soothing voice of legendary broadcaster Scully captivating his audience as he reads aloud your favorite Christmas book. The 88-year-old is the ultimate baseball storyteller, and has witnessed some of the greatest moments the game has to offer over his storied career. If you ask nicely, maybe he'll let you wear his 1988 World Series ring he lost last year while Christmas shopping.
