The Philadelphia Phillies have reportedly picked up a former successful big-league closer on a dime, handing a minor-league contract worth $850,000 to right-hander Ernesto Frieri, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.

Frieri spent 2015 with the Tampa Bay Rays, appearing in 22 games, while posting an ERA of 4.63 and WHIP of 1.33.

The Colombian has also recorded 73 saves in his seven-year career, with his best seasons coming as a member of the Los Angeles Angels between 2012-13 when he recorded 60 saves in 67 attempts.

Frieri is another arm added to the depth charts by Phillies general manager Matt Klentak, who has now acquired Dan Otero, James Russell, Jeremy Hellickson, A.J. Achter, Michael Mariot, and David Hernandez via different avenues in the offseason.
