Ben Zobrist: Agrees to deal with Cubs
Zobrist agreed to a four-year, $56 million contract with the Cubs on Tuesday, pending a physical, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports.
Analysis:
The familiarity with skipper Joe Maddon and upward trajectory of the franchise led Zobrist to choose Chicago and turn down more lucrative offers from other clubs. With the Cubs flipping Starlin Castro to the Yankees shortly after news of this deal broke, it seems Zobrist will likely open the year at second base, but his versatility in the field will allow the Cubs some flexibility.
