Report: Pirates to meet with reps for Kazmir

The Pittsburgh Pirates are reportedly targeting one of the top remaining free-agent starters to address the hole in the rotation left by A.J. Burnett's retirement.

The representatives for left-hander Scott Kazmir will meet with the Pirates at some point during the winter meetings, according to Travis Sawchik of the Pittsburgh Tribune.

After coming off a strong season split between the Oakland Athletics and Houston Astros, Kazmir is reportedly looking for a contract worth more than the three-year, $45-million deal the Los Angeles Dodgers gave to Hisashi Iwakuma.

In 31 starts in 2015, Kazmir went 7-11 with a 3.10 ERA and 155 strikeouts over 183 innings. The 31-year-old is 32-29 with a 3.54 ERA and 1.22 WHIP across the past three seasons.

The Kansas City Royals, Dodgers, and Athletics are all reportedly interested in Kazmir.
