Pirates sign Jake Goebbert

The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed utility man Jake Goebbert, the club announced Wednesday.
Goebbert played in 122 games for the San Diego Padres' Triple-A affiliate in 2015, hitting .294/.392/.452.
He made 52 major-league appearances in 2014 with San Diego, often coming on as a pinch hitter but with occasional starts at first base.
The 28-year-old will be on the Pirates' 40-man roster to begin the 2016 season.
