Several teams are expected to make a serious run at signing coveted free agent David Price this offseason, but according to the pitcher, an unlikely landing spot has emerged.

"I can always tell the big rumor days," Price tweeted Monday. "Tons of mentions when I haven't even said anything!! I love you all BUT I'm going to play in Japan."

Price, one of the top arms available this winter, quickly assured fans in a follow-up tweet that he'll in fact be pitching for a major-league team next season.

The playful tweets came on the heels of reports Monday that Price's preference is to return to Toronto, where the All-Star lefty bolstered his Cy Young credentials over an impressive 11-start stretch during the second half. Jon Morosi of FOX Sports, however, said on Sportsnet 590 The Fan he doesn't believe Price's first choice is to return to the Blue Jays.

Price, who finished second in Cy Young voting to Houston's Dallas Keuchel, is expected to be pursued by several big-spending clubs, including the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, and Los Angeles Dodgers.
