The free-agent market is loaded with top arms, but that isn't stopping some teams from examining the possibility of bolstering their respective rotations via trade.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants have checked in on the availability of Atlanta Braves righty Shelby Miller, according to ESPN's Buster Olney.

A report surfaced Tuesday claiming the Arizona Diamondbacks and Braves had discussed a potential trade involving outfielder A.J. Pollock and Miller, and that may have prompted other clubs to take advantage of Atlanta's fire sale.

The Braves have clearly entered a complete rebuild phase as the franchise looks forward to moving into a new ballpark in 2017. The front office has already spun a deal this offseason, shipping Andrelton Simmons to Los Angeles.

Miller, 25, is first-year arbitration eligible and can't become a free agent until 2019, which increases his potential trade value due to the substantial team control for years to come.

The Giants have substantial pitching needs following the retirement of Tim Hudson and the likely departures of Ryan Vogelsong, Tim Lincecum, and Mike Leake due to free agency.

Brett Anderson surprisingly accepted the Dodgers' qualifying offer to stabilize the rotation, but Los Angeles still has to consider other options if it can't sign Zack Greinke to a long-term pact.
