Arroyo: 'I'd love to come back' to Cincinnati

After spending the entire 2015 campaign (and much of the season prior) recovering from Tommy John surgery, veteran right-hander Bronson Arroyo said he'd be thrilled to revive his career in Cincinnati, the city he called home from 2006 to 2013.

"I'd love to come back here," Arroyo told John Fay of WCPO.com. "I'm so comfortable here."

Following the 2013 campaign, his eighth straight as a fixture in the Reds' rotation, Arroyo signed a two-year, $23.5-million deal with the Diamondbacks, but made just 14 starts for Arizona before having his ulnar collateral ligament surgically repaired.

This summer, with Arroyo confined to the disabled list, the Diamondbacks were so eager to dispose his contract, they shipped one of their top prospects to Atlanta just so the Braves would absorb the $9.5 million owed to the injured former All-Star. About five weeks later, the Braves pawned Arroyo off on the Los Angeles Dodgers, who eventually paid him a $4.5-million buyout rather than exercise his $11-million option for 2016.

Though Arroyo didn't make minor-league rehab starts this season, he finished the campaign in the Instructional League and insisted he's "going to have a normal offseason."

"My elbow finally started feeling 100 percent five days ago," he said. "There was a little spot in there. The scar tissue finally broke up or something."

Arroyo, who recently had breakfast with Reds manager Bryan Price, crafted a 3.79 ERA over 32 starts in 2013 - his last full season - and owns a 4.19 ERA (103 ERA+) with a 2.38 strikeout-to-walk ratio over parts of 15 season in the majors.

"Price thinks I could help in the clubhouse," Arroyo added.
