Rich Hill has found a new home for 2016.

The free-agent southpaw agreed to a one-year deal worth $6 million with the Oakland Athletics on Friday.

Hill, 35, was offered more money from another suitor, but liked the idea of a guaranteed rotation spot with the Athletics.

He will join an Oakland rotation led by Cy Young candidate Sonny Gray that could also feature a number of other young arms, such as Jesse Hahn, Chris Bassitt, Kendall Graveman, A.J. Griffin, and Aaron Brooks.

Jesse Chavez, who made 26 starts for the Athletics last season, could also be in the mix, but Passan reports that multiple teams have significant interest in the 32-year-old after the Hill signing.

Hill made just four starts for the Boston Red Sox last season, but managed a meager 1.55 ERA across 29 innings of work. He's only surpassed the 100-innings-pitched mark once in his career, back in 2007 with the Chicago Cubs.

Prior to last season, the lefty hadn't made a start in the majors since 2009 with the Baltimore Orioles.

Across 11 seasons in the bigs, Hill owns a 4.54 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 201 appearances, 74 of which were starts.
