Major League Baseball's awards season continues Monday when each league's top rookie is honored with the first major piece of hardware from the 2015 campaign.

The Baseball Writers' Association of America revealed the three finalists for Rookie of the Year from each league last week, and will announce the winner on MLB Network on Monday beginning at 6 p.m. ET.

Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant is the overwhelming favorite to take home National League honors, while the American League battle is expected to come down to shortstop phenoms Carlos Correa and Francisco Lindor. Here's a look at how the six finalists stack up against each other overall:

1. Kris Bryant, 3B - NL

So much for the call-up controversy. Bryant's dominant path to the majors was delayed by close to two weeks because of haggling over his future arbitration status, but it wasn't nearly enough to derail his record-breaking season. The Cubs slugger hit a franchise rookie-record 26 homers in 151 games, and was worth over a full win more than any other first-year player in baseball. He's not only the best rookie in his league, he's the top candidate in the majors.

Player R H HR RBI OPS WAR
Kris Bryant 87 154 26 99 .858 6.0
Rookie Rank 1 2 T-1 1 1 1

2. Carlos Correa, SS - AL

Correa needed even fewer games than Bryant to make his case as the AL's top rookie - and possibly best player at his position, period. The Houston Astros wunderkind didn't debut until June 8, and still led AL rookies in most meaningful offensive categories, set franchise home run records, and dazzled his way into highlight reels on a nightly basis for his work in the field. And he did it all as the youngest position player in the majors this season. Correa's 4.1 WAR is the second-highest total in MLB history prior to an age-21 season.

Player SB HR RBI SLG OPS WAR
Carlos Correa 14 22 68 .512 .857 4.1
Rookie Rank 5 4 5 4 6 4

3. Francisco Lindor, SS - AL

In any other season, Lindor would likely be the AL's top rookie, which is still quite impressive given the Cleveland Indians shortstop played just 99 games (same as Correa). Lindor led all first-year AL players in WAR, but did most of his damage during a dominant second half that saw the dynamic 22-year-old post a .930 OPS with 10 homers and 11 steals.

Player H SB AVG OBP K% WAR
Francisco Lindor 122 12 .313 .353 15.8 4.6
Rookie Rank 6 8 1 10 6 3

4. Jung Ho Kang, SS - NL

The Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop proved critics wrong after coming over from the hitter-friendly KBO, slugging 15 homers and batting an impressive .300/.359/.481 against right-handers. Kang not only proved capable of playing shortstop at the major-league level, he also got stronger as the year went on, improving his OPS by nearly 200 points in the second half before a takeout slide ended his season in September. Kang's 17 HBP led all MLB rookies.

Player 2B HR HBP AVG OBP WAR
Jung Ho Kang 24 15 17 .287 .355 4.0
Rookie Rank 5 10 1 10 8 5

5. Miguel Sano, DH - AL

Sano's name isn't at the top of the WAR leaderboards, but the Minnesota Twins designated hitter debuted with a bang this season. The hulking 6-foot-4, 260-pound slugger went deep 18 times in just 80 games as a 22-year-old, highlighted by an explosive August that included nine homers and a 1.006 OPS.

Player BB% HR OBP SLG OPS WAR
Miguel Sano 15.8 18 .385 .530 .916 2.1
Rookie Rank 1 5 1 2 1 16

6. Matt Duffy, 3B - NL

Duffy's big season was overshadowed by Bryant, a superior offensive third baseman playing for the wild-card winning Cubs. That might have been the only thing working against the San Francisco Giants third baseman this year. Duffy's all-around efforts culminated in double-digit steals, homers, doubles, and six triples, while sporting a solid .334 OBP and rating favorably on FanGraph's defensive metrics. Duffy impressed amid anonymity this season, but he's firmly entrenched in the spotlight now.

Player H 2B 3B SB AVG WAR
Matt Duffy 169 28 6 12 .295 4.9
Rookie Rank 1 4 6 8 8 2
