Alex Gordon will test the free-agent market.

The outfielder has rejected a one-year, $15.8-million qualifying offer from the Kansas City Royals.

Kansas City will receive draft-pick compensation if Gordon signs with another club.

Gordon, 31, is a lifetime Royal, after the club selected him in the first round of the 2005 draft.

In 2015, he hit .271/.377/.432 with 13 home runs and 48 RBIs in 354 at-bats for the World Series champions.
