Jason Heyward and John Lackey are poised to test the free-agent market.

Both have rejected the St. Louis Cardinals' one-year, $15.8-million qualifying offers, according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Dispatch.

St. Louis will, however, receive draft-pick compensation if either signs with another team.

The 26-year-old Heyward improved his case for a lucrative long-term deal with a solid 2015 campaign, hitting .293/.359/.439 with 13 homers and 60 RBIs in 154 games. He also picked up a third Gold Glove Award for his outstanding play in right field.

Lackey, 37, logged 218 innings of work in 2015, compiling a 13-10 record with a 2.77 ERA across 33 starts.
