Report: Dodgers showing significant interest in Darren O'Day

Another team appears to be aggressively entering the Darren O'Day sweepstakes.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are showing significant interest in O'Day, a free-agent reliever, according to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.

O'Day is also reportedly generating early interest from the New York Mets, while many other teams looking to improve their bullpens will likely get involved in the days and weeks to come.

The sidewinder wasn't extended a $15.8-million qualifying offer by the Baltimore Orioles, and therefore won't have draft pick compensation tied to him. Some baseball executives reportedly believe O'Day will command a deal north of Luke Gregerson's three-year, $18.5-million pact with the Houston Astros last winter.

O'Day has been one of the most dominant relievers over the past four seasons, and pitched to a 1.52 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in 68 appearances for Baltimore in 2015. He would potentially fit in nicely as the setup man behind closer Kenley Jansen in the Dodgers bullpen.
