Dodgers decline options on Utley, 2 others

The Los Angeles Dodgers have declined their 2016 options on second baseman Chase Utley, right-hander Bronson Arroyo, and reliever Joel Peralta.

Utley, who was acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies in an August trade, hit .202/.291/.363 in 34 games for Los Angeles. The 36-year-old is now a free agent, but suitors will be mindful of a potential suspension to start the 2016 campaign, stemming from his illegal takeout slide that fractured New York Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada's fibula in the NLDS.

Arroyo, 38, missed the entire 2015 season as he continues to recover from Tommy John surgery. He had an $11-million team option with a $4.5-million buyout.

Peralta, 39, had a $2.5-million club option for 2016 with no buyout. He will turn 40 in March and missed significant time last season due to neck and shoulder injuries. The righty went 3-1 with a 4.34 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 33 appearances.
