Boston Red Sox left-hander Brian Johnson and a friend were sitting in a vehicle outside a convenience store in Florida on Friday when an armed man opened the car door, threatened them, and demanded the keys, according to Florida Today.

Johnson's friend, Thomas Carrigan, told police he handed over the keys as the pair exited the car. The assailant reportedly fired a bullet into the ground before making off with the vehicle. He was arrested a short time later after deputies clocked him traveling close to 125 mph in the stolen vehicle.

Carrigan said the man yelled: "I will kill you, give me your (expletive) keys."

Johnson made his major-league debut in July before landing on the disabled list for several months with elbow irritation in the ulnar nerve area.
