MLB Playoff Picture: 3 things to know from Saturday

Every night we look around the league and identify three things you need to know about the playoff races. Here's what happened Saturday:

Wild, wild West

Wins by the Los Angeles Angels and Houston Astros, combined with a Texas Rangers loss, have seriously complicated matters in the American League West. The Rangers' magic number is still stuck at one after they blew a late lead to the Angels, and the Astros can now pull even in the division with a win Sunday, combined with a Texas loss. Los Angeles can only hope for a Monday tiebreaker in the AL wild card, and needs a win paired with a Houston loss Sunday to extend its season.

Dodgers to host Mets

Zack Greinke solidified his case for the National League Cy Young Award with eight solid innings in a 2-1 Dodgers' victory over the San Diego Padres. The New York Mets dropped both contests of a doubleheader with the Washington Nationals, and were no-hit by Max Scherzer in the nightcap, so L.A. now has home advantage in its NLDS showdown with New York.

Plenty up for grabs Sunday

Baseball fans are in for a treat Sunday as the regular season closes. No less than seven games on the schedule have playoff implications, and all the action begins at 3 p.m. ET.
