Padres interim manager Murphy won't resume role in 2016

The San Diego Padres will be looking for a new manager this offseason.
The team announced Sunday that interim manager Pat Murphy won't be promoted to the full-time role in 2016.
"I'm a little bit regretful I didn't reveal myself earlier," Murphy told The San Diego Union-Tribune's Dennis Lin. "I felt I needed to stand back, earn some respect and earn some trust. It's hard (to take over) on the run, but I learned a lot."
Lin believes Phil Nevin, Mark Kotsay, Ron Gardenhire, Ron Washington, Sandy Alomar Jr., Alex Cora, and Joey Cora could all be candidates to take over as manager next season.
Murphy, who may remain with San Diego in another role, led the Padres to a 42-54 record after Bud Black was fired in June.
