The Philadelphia Phillies enter the final day of the season in danger of their first 100-loss season in 54 years. Fortunately for fans, there's a silver lining to the club's futility.

With the Miami Marlins' 5-2 win in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader, the Phillies clinched the worst record in baseball and No. 1 overall pick in next year's draft. The last time the Phillies held the top selection was 1998, when the team drafted Pat Burrell out of the University of Miami.

"We're trying to win every game," manager Pete Mackanin told MLB.com's Todd Zolecki after the Phillies fell to 62-99 on the season. "Nobody wants to lose 100 games. Nobody wants to lose 90 games - 99 or 100 is just as bad. We've heard about (the top pick in the draft) for a couple weeks now. We're very aware of it. That's one positive that comes out of it."

Entering Sunday, the top five teams for next year's draft are still to be determined.

Team Record Opp
Phillies 62-99 MIA
Reds 64-97 @ PIT
Braves 65-95 STL X 2
Athletics 68-93 @ SEA
Brewers 68-93 CHC

The Marlins and Houston Astros are the last clubs to lose 100 games in a season, dropping 100 and 111 games respectively during the 2013 campaign.
