A-Rod feels 'just fine' despite recent struggles

Alex Rodriguez's comeback season has hit a bit of a speed bump.

The New York Yankees slugger is in the midst of a 2-for-17 (.117) slump over his last seven games, and has just one home run in his last 28 at-bats.

"I feel just fine," Rodriguez told George A. King of the New York Post. "I had some swings I thought I could have done damage with."

The Yankees' aspirations of leapfrogging the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East took a major hit after they dropped two of three against their division rivals - a series in which Rodriguez failed to make much of an impact.

A-Rod struck out three times in the opener, and tallied only a pair of hits in 13 at-bats while failing to drive in a run.

The final month of the season has historically been when Rodriguez slows down. The three-time MVP owns a .278/.372/.526 in September across his 21-year career - the worst numbers of any month.

New York opens opens a four-game series at home against the Chicago White Sox on Thursday.
