Cueto pitches into 8th, halts personal losing streak
Johnny Cueto still can't buy a win, but he showed some signs of snapping out of his funk Friday night.
The Kansas City Royals ace pitched into the eighth inning against the Detroit Tigers, yielding two runs on eight hits while striking out four.
"I take a lot of pride in what I did tonight, because I threw the ball really well," Cueto said through an interpreter following the outing. "I got myself into a rhythm and finally felt the way I'm supposed to feel out there."
Cueto was in position for the loss, but Salvador Perez belted a two-run homer in the ninth inning to help the Royals knot the contest at 3-3, and snap the righty's personal five-game losing streak with a no-decision.
