Texas Rangers outfielder Delino DeShields left Monday's contest with the Seattle Mariners in the seventh inning with a left knee sprain and is considered day to day.

DeShields suffered the injury while sliding awkwardly into third base.

The rookie has been a pleasant surprise for the Rangers this year, hitting .256 with a .344 on-base percentage while stealing 22 bases on 28 attempts.

Texas went on to win 3-0 in the contest to maintain its hold on the final American League wild-card spot.
