VIDEO: Dodgers' Seager delivers with 2-hit debut
Corey Seager made a strong first impression.
The much-hyped Los Angeles Dodgers prospect went 2-for-4 in his major-league debut Thursday night against the San Diego Padres, finishing with two RBIs and two runs in the club's 10-7 loss.
"He was good. He looked really good," manager Don Mattingly told reporters. "It’s just a frustrating game, a really frustrating game today."
Seager's first career hit was a double down the right-field line in the fifth inning, much to the delight of his parents, who were in attendance at Petco Park.
The 21-year-old shortstop, a first-round pick in 2012, delivered again an inning later, singling up the middle to drive in the first two runs of his career.

Despite the loss, the Dodgers maintained their 6 1/2-game lead over the San Francisco Giants in the National League West.
