Rockies' Gonzalez sets career high with multi-homer effort
Nobody is swinging a hotter bat than Carlos Gonzalez.
The Colorado Rockies slugger took advantage of the thin air at Coors Field on Thursday night, smashing a pair of homers in an 11-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants.
CarGo got the Rockies on the board in the first inning with a two-run blast.
He added his National League-leading 35th homer - another two-run bomb - in the fourth inning to set a new career high and put the Rockies up 9-2.

Gonzalez, who bested his 34-homer total from 2010, also swatted a pair of homers and collected seven RBIs in Colorado's 9-4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
"We've seen stuff like this from him before. I don't know about at this level," manager Walt Weiss told reporters after Thursday's victory. "It's pretty impressive right now what he's done, especially recently. We know all about the talent. When he gets rolling it's something to see."
The outfielder's 11-RBI outburst over the last two games has matched Larry Walker's franchise record.
