Royals' Cain leaves game after fouling ball off calf

Mike DiNovo / USA TODAY Sports

Kansas City Royals outfielder Lorenzo Cain left Wednesday's game against the Detroit Tigers.

Cain fouled a ball off his left calf in the fourth and was replaced by Jarrod Dyson in the top of the fifth inning after he recovered to hit an RBI double.

With the Royals beating the Tigers 9-0 at the time, Cain was taken out of the game for precautionary reasons. A team official said it wasn't "considered serious."

Cain was having a nice night at the plate before his departure, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs, including a solo blast off Tigers starter Randy Wolf.
