Tim Lincecum's pitching days with the San Francisco Giants may be over.

The right-hander will visit with a doctor Wednesday to determine if he needs season-ending surgery on his hip, which could end his stint with the franchise, reports Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

Lincecum has already seen a number of doctors, but will visit with hip specialist Marc Philippon to get a final opinion.

The 31-year-old has what the Giants are calling a "degenerative" condition that affects the way the former Cy Young award winner pitches.

"I have good days and bad days," he told Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News. "The bad days are outshining the good ones."

Lincecum will be a free agent at the end of the season, and he isn't interested in making his time in the Bay Area a distant memory.

"It's definitely frustrating but I've got to find a way to move forward,” Lincecum said. "The training staff is definitely doing their best to help me out. To be honest, we're trying to explore as many options as we can."

Lincecum is 7-4 with a 4.13 ERA in 15 starts, although the former strikeout machine's rate has dropped to a career-low 7.1 per nine innings.
