Mets' Collins: Matz will not move to bullpen

With Steven Matz set to make his final rehab start with Double-A Birmingham on Monday, New York Mets skipper Terry Collins wants to make it clear he won't be moving to the bullpen.

"You're talking about a guy who's had injury issues," Collins said. "To ask him to do something he hasn't done before. To try to go warm up fast and get ready in a hurry - I'm not sure it's fair to him."

Matz has been sidelined since July 10 with a strained lat muscle. He recorded wins in the two starts he's made with the big club, allowing just two runs and striking out 14 batters in 13 2/3 innings of work.

The acquisition of Addison Reed on Sunday will bolster the Mets' bullpen in the meantime. Bartolo Colon is a likely candidate to be moved out of the rotation, but Matt Harvey could also get bumped, as he's currently just 20 innings shy of his post-Tommy John surgery innings limit with the playoffs approaching.
