The streaking Boston Red Sox will be missing a pair of key bats Saturday as they continue their three-game set in Queens.

One day after tying Lou Gehrig and Fred McGriff with his 493rd home run, David Ortiz is sitting out the afternoon tilt because of lingering tightness in his left heel. The injury, which is believed to be minor, forced Ortiz out of Friday's 6-4 victory over the New York Mets in the eighth inning.

"I just know there was that left heel tightness yesterday. He knows himself very well, and when he says he needs to get off his feet, we understand that needs to happen quickly," interim manager Torey Lovullo told reporters. "He's available today to pinch-hit because he got off his feet yesterday. He's going to give us that option. We'll see where he's at at the end of the day."

Outfielder Hanley Ramirez, meanwhile, remains sidelined for a second straight game due to right shoulder fatigue. Ramirez, who was a late scratch Friday, is considered day to day, manager Torey Lovullo said.
