ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Tampa Bay Rays placed outfielder Desmond Jennings on the 15-day disabled Thursday with a bruised left knee and recalled outfielder Joey Butler from Triple-A Durham.
The moves were announced before Thursday night's game against Minnesota.
Jennings bruised the knee sliding last weekend at Oakland. The injury forced him to leave Tuesday night's game with the Twins after three innings.
Jennings played in 10 games after missing 96 earlier this season due to left knee bursitis that required surgery.
