Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Adrian Gonzalez was removed from Thursday's series finale against the Cincinnati Reds in the fifth inning with a right knee contusion.

He's considered day to day.

Gonzalez was replaced by Scott Van Slyke at first base prior to the bottom half of the fifth after going hitless in two at-bats. The left-handed power-hitter is batting .288/.361/.511 with a team-leading 130 hits, 24 homers, and 74 RBIs.

The Dodgers entered Thursday holding a slim 2 1/2-game lead on the defending champion San Francisco Giants in the NL West.
