Freese (finger) has thrown two days in a row with a normal grip on the ball and hopes to begin a rehab assignment in the coming days, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.

Analysis:

This is an encouraging development for Freese, who was unable to throw at full strength as recently as Aug. 9 as his fractured finger was still giving him problems. Now that he has logged two straight days of throwing at full strength, a rehab assignment could be in the offing by early next week.
