The Atlanta Braves have signed right-hander Edwin Jackson to a major-league contract for the remainder of the 2015 season.
Jackson was released by the Chicago Cubs on July 27 with $15 million remaining on his contract after the 31-year-old posted a 3.19 ERA in 23 appearances out of the team's bullpen.
Chicago originally signed him to a four-year, $52-million contract to start for the club, but his results dwindled last season when he posted a 6.33 ERA in 28 starts.
Jackson has amassed an 86-105 record, 4.61 ERA, and 1.46 WHIP in over 1,600 career innings in the big leagues.
