VIDEO: Mariners' Cruz homers in 5th consecutive game

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Nelson Cruz cannot be stopped.

Coming into Tuesday's game against the Colorado Rockies, the Seattle Mariners outfielder had nine home runs in his last 14 games and an impressive streak of four straight games taking a ball yard.

Make that five.

The 448-foot bomb off Scott Oberg left his bat at an incredible 112 mph for his 31st home run of the season to trail only Mike Trout's 32 for the major-league lead. It is especially impressive considering the 35-year-old only hit one home run in the entire month of June.

On Wednesday, he will look to become the first player with homers in six straight games since Chris Davis accomplished the feat in 2012. Ken Griffey Jr. holds the Mariners record with eight consecutive games with a home run. Chris Rusin will start for the Rockies.
