Astros' McCullers allows 6 runs, records just 1 out vs. Rangers

Lance McCullers has enjoyed a tremendous start to his career with the Astros, establishing himself as a fixture in the rotation less than three months after being recalled from Double-A Corpus Christi.

On Monday night, though, the 21-year-old wasn't treated so hospitably by his club's intrastate rivals from about 256 miles north of Houston.

In his first career start against the Texas Rangers, the young right-hander recorded just one out at Globe Life Park, allowing six runs on seven hits - including a two-run home run - and one walk before yielding to reliever Josh Fields.

Though McCullers will presumably try to forget Monday's outing, he joined an exclusive club with his regrettable performance. Only two other starters - including former Cy Young Award winner Felix Hernandez - have labored through outings this season in which they recorded just one out before departing.

The last Astros starter to record a lone out prior to his removal was Brad Peacock. The right-hander was pulled from his outing against the Boston Red Sox on July 13, 2014 after allowing one run on two hits and one walk.
