Hamilton's walk-off hit, 4 RBIs give Rangers win over Yankees
On a night of inside-the-park home runs and oddities in the field, Josh Hamilton played the role of hero for the Texas Rangers in their 7-6 win over the New York Yankees.
Hamilton recorded four RBIs on the night, including the game-winner in the bottom of the ninth off normally untouchable Yankees closer Andrew Miller to give his team their 49th victory of the season.
"That's one of the funnest things you can do in baseball," Hamilton told reporters. "I think having a team, you turn first base and look back and your teammates are running out to give you hugs and jump around with you and act crazy, it's a pretty cool feeling. Hopefully we can take the momentum from that and continue to have a good homestand."
The outfielder also smashed a three-run jack in the bottom of the first inning off of Yankees starter CC Sabathia to tie the game at three.
Despite Thursday's success, the slugger hasn't seen a return to his old form in a Rangers uniform since coming to the team in a trade April.
Coming into the contest against New York, Hamilton was hitting just .247/.300/.419 with three home runs and 10 RBIs in 100 plate appearances, although he's spent most of the season recovering from multiple injuries.
