Angels' Mike Trout sidelined for 2nd straight game with wrist injury

Kelvin Kuo / USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Angels will be without Mike Trout for a second consecutive game Wednesday against the Houston Astros.

"I want to be 100 percent; I don't want to have a setback," Trout said, adding that his wrist feels "a lot better." The 23-year-old will not go on DL, according to Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com.

The outfielder hurt his wrist diving for a fly ball in Sunday's game against the Texas Rangers, a game in which Trout also hit two home runs. David DeJesus will take his place playing in center field for the first time since 2013.

Trout had an MRI on his left wrist that showed no serious problems and he is expected to return to the lineup this week. He needs just five more home runs this season to match his career high of 36 with two months of baseball left to play.
