VIDEO: Blue Jays' Bautista bails out sunstruck teammates with sliding grab

The sun tried to wreak some havoc on the Toronto Blue Jays during the first inning of Saturday's afternoon clash with the Tampa Bay Rays at Rogers Centre.

Jose Bautista, though, wasn't prepared to let the sun get away with such shenanigans on his home turf.

Bautista, a fixture in Toronto's outfield for much of the last eight summers, rescued infielders Devon Travis and Justin Smoak with a sliding catch when the sun incapacitated them as they pursued a fly ball off the bat of Joey Butler with one out in the first inning.

Bautista, for the record, leads all right fielders with 30.2 defensive wins above replacement since the beginning of 2010, when he took over as the Blue Jays' primary right fielder.
