Mariners' Cruz to miss 'a few days' with quad injury

A right quad strain will keep Nelson Cruz out of the lineup for the next handful of games.

The Seattle Mariners outfielder says he'll need "a few days" to rest the injury he sustained Wednesday in a tilt with the Houston Astros.

Seattle opens a three-game set in Oakland with the Athletics on Friday, and won't rush Cruz back into the lineup with the team well out of playoff contention.

Cruz leads the majors with 39 home runs and has a team-high .310 batting average and 82 RBIs.
