James Paxton: (Finger) Placed On DL

Paxton (finger) was placed on the 15-day DL on Friday with a strained middle finger tendon, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.

Analysis:

The injury forced Paxton off the hill Thursday after 4.2 innings and has now sent him to the disabled list. Paxton's teammate, Hisashi Iwakuma, dealt with a similar injury last spring and was shut down from throwing for close to three weeks, though the Mariners haven't said how long Paxton will be out nor have they announced his replacement in the rotation. Mike Montgomery seems like a top candidate.
